Peter D. Mott,

Peter D. Mott, MA, ICPS, LCDC
Director of Behavioral Health

Peter has been in the behavioral health profession for 30 years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Psychology from the University of Memphis and a master’s degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix. He has been a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor in Texas for 18 years. He is an Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor and a Certified Designated Employer Representative Trainer (CDERT). As a CDERT, he educates and trains business owners, managers, HR personnel, and Safety Professionals on implementing workplace strategies for addressing employee substance misuse and abuse.

Peter began his behavioral health career in community-based mental health facilities in his hometown of Memphis, TN. Providing assessments and evaluations, substance use disorder (SUD) counseling, case management services, and program oversight for individuals diagnosed with co-occurring disorders laid the foundation for his professional journey. He moved to Dallas, Texas, 26 years ago and was instrumental in developing a substance abuse prevention program for at-risk youth in South Dallas. The program served over 500 at-risk youth. He also provided substance use disorder (SUD) counseling services for CPS clients, homeless women and children, and prison inmates at a local criminal justice facility. Since relocating to Houston 16 years ago, he has provided substance abuse counseling services and program oversight in an acute care hospital residential and outpatient treatment setting. Peter was the program director for the comprehensive IOP treatment program specializing in chronic pain, dependency, and Opioid Use Disorders at Symetria Recovery.

Peter has been elected to the Texas Certification Board (TCB) in 2019-2022. He is a past President of the Texas Association of Addiction Professionals Houston Chapter. In addition, he was selected in August 2020 to NAADAC’s, the National Association for Addiction Professionals, inaugural committee on Critical Issues in the Black Community.” In January of 2013, he became an entrepreneur. He is the President & CEO of National Workplace Prevention Resources, LLC. Peter has been a tremendous advocate for reducing the stigma and shame employees in recovery face in the workplace. Peter received the 2021 Lora Roe Memorial Addiction Counselor of the Year Award from The National Association for Addiction Professionals. Peter was voted “Member of the Year” for the Houston Chapter TAAP in 2018 and Counselor of the Year in 2016. He has received recognition for his dedication and commitment to the field of addiction and his volunteer spirit for giving back to his community. Peter is actively involved in outreach and community engagement in the recovery community. He presents at local, state, and national addiction studies conferences. We are pleased to have Peter as part of our behavioral health services at Procura Pain and Spine. These services are unique and give our Practice the interventional edge over traditional pain companies in treating the whole person physically and mentally.
